New Report Feature: Sales Summary

Now restaurant clients can view a quick and easy "Sales Summary" report. All you need to do is simply head out to the Reports section in the Restaurant Admin Dashboard , and choose "Sales Summary" under "Essentials".

From there you can filter the Sales Summary by Day, Week, Month, Payment Type or Order Type, and then select the desired timeframe.

You can also export it in the format of your choosing.

Plus, you can also use the Custom Column button, located next to “Total”, to display any additional info you might need.

With COVID and the concern for less if any contact at all these days and food customers slowly coming back in to restaurants for dine-in service, we are excited to Beta launch an amazing new feature to help everyone and increase restaurant sales! Introducing: Contactless Dine-In Ordering!

How It Works For The Customer

At the table in the restaurant, the food customer will see a printed card and/or insert that instructs them how to access the online menu and ordering system via their mobile phone and a QR code. It gives them step-by-step instructions to do this. Once they access the menu, they can order and pay online as well. The QR code automatically makes this a Contactless Dine-In order and the customer simply inserts their table number in the order where instructed from the ordering application.

How It Works For The Restaurant

Once the food customer places their order, the restaurant receives the order via your online ordering tablet. The order comes up with a unique icon that shows food on a table. When you click on the order, it shows that it is for dine-in and you simply accept the order via the normal green button. You will then input the fulfillment time, inform the waitress for that table and have the kitchen make the food for the waitress to bring it to the table.

Digital Wait Staff & Cashier

It's almost like having a digital wait staff for showcasing the menu, taking the orders and even cashiering the order and handling the money! We are hoping that this amazing new service will bring your food customers more comfort and could possibly even save your restaurant staffing costs as you may need less staff using this new tool.

How To Turn On Daily Reports

Turning on "Daily Reports" is easy. Just log in to your Restaurant Admin Dashboard and click on the 3 dots icon on the left side and under "Advanced Settings" click on "Notifications". Make sure your email is listed in there and (in addition to any other features you want) make sure to turn on "End of the day report" towards the bottom. Click save and you're all set!

Google Business Listing: Automated

Google My Business Listing - Update

For restaurant accounts created after the end of January 2021 Google My Business listing is now an automated process.

What this means:

The system creates a Google listing in case the restaurant does not have one;
The system claims the listing in case the listing exists, but it is not claimed;
The system asks Google to send the PIN in case the listing requires verification;
Once the user inserts the PIN in Admin the system performs the PIN verification;
If the system creates/has access to the listing it proceeds to optimize it.

Also:

In case your Google listing is already claimed, the system asks the restaurant to add us as Managers to the listing. The See instructions button opens a popup with step by step instructions on how to do it. You also have the possibility to send the instructions by email ( I’m not the location owner ).

Facebook App Depreciation

As of January 2021, Facebook has deprecated all 3rd party apps on its pages.

Restaurants that have already published their menu in a tab on a Facebook page can still use the widget and can still add their menu on other Facebook pages.

Restaurants that up until January have not published their menu in a Facebook tab can use the link we provide in the Facebook section (Setup->Publishing->Facebook) to connect their menu.

Set Exceptions For Opening Hours & Holidays

You can now set exceptions to regular opening hours by accessing Admin->Services and opening hours -> Opening hours -> Exceptions.

How It Works:

1. Add special days
For example vacations, national holidays or other temporary alterations of your service hours. See below an example of a restaurant closed for Christmas (25th December):

2. Pause services

For example, when: you need to stop online ordering because of too many orders, you need to close early, drivers call in sick, etc. “Pause services” can be used only for the current day.

We are very excited to announce that we are now adding delivery to our restaurant clients. For restaurants that currently do not offer delivery, this is an easy and quick way to skyrocket your online orders and daily sales. If you are a restaurant that currently offers delivery, Order Wisconsin's delivery service will most likely be a much better option for you.

Did you know that by Order Wisconsin delivering around their establishments and in their local area, restaurants can actually sell a LOT more food? We can possibly quadruple (or more) your current orders and profits! We are looking forward to now offering this service as of today!

Limited Google My Business functionality due to COVID-19

We understand that many of our clients and business owners would like their Google listing updated as soon as possible. While your requests are important to us, Google is informing all business owners that they will be delays in service and updates. We can put the request in to update your listing, but Google may delay the update. Here is snippet from Google:

"During the unprecedented COVID-19 situation, we are taking steps to protect the health of our team members and reduce the need for people to come into our offices. As a result, there may be some temporary limitations and delays in support as we prioritize critical services.

Printing Receipts

Printing With The Restaurant Online Order Taking App

Our order taking app can be connected to multiple Epson and Star thermal printers.

Thermal printers are widely used in restaurants. They are robust, fast, require no toner change and paper costs are close to nothing. Epson and Star are leading manufacturers in this segment.

The app supports three types of printer connection:

• LAN (Ethernet)

The thermal printer is connected by network cable to a WiFi router and accesses the same WiFi network as the order taking device does;

• WLAN (WiFi)

The thermal printer connects wirelessly to the same WiFi network that’s used by the order taking device;

• Bluetooth

The thermal printer connects directly to the order taking device via Bluetooth.

To add a printer

Open the order taking app and select Thermal printer from the menu. The app will guide you through adding a LAN, WiFi or Bluetooth printer.

• When adding a LAN / WiFi printer, double check that the printer and your order taking device are connected to the same network.

• When adding a Bluetooth printer, first pair the printer with the device and then add the printer in the app.

In case you have multiple working stations, you can add several printers and have your orders printed on all of them. The iOS version of the Order Taking App supports adding multiple printers with different connectivity types (like shown in the image below). On Android, all your printers must have the same connectivity type (all LAN/WiFI or all Bluetooth).

Furthermore, you can go in the Admin Panel and decide exactly what to be printed on each printer: which template, number of copies and language. For text-only printers you will be limited to the text-only receipt template. But for printers that support image printing, you can create custom restaurant receipts and assign them as needed per printers.

To benefit from Custom Printing, you need:

• Restaurant Order Taking App version: 1.2.21 for Android, 1.1.40 for iPhone/iPad - or higher.

• Software version of your phone or tablet: 4.4 or higher for Android, 9.0 or higher for iOS;

• A compatible thermal printer that supports image printing.

Restaurant Receipt Templates

In the Admin you can find 2 restaurant receipt templates that we’ve prepared for you, suggestively called Client receipt and Kitchen essentials.

Note: You need a printer with image printing capabilities in order to use these templates. If your printer can only print text, you can still get the order printed, but in a default plain-text template.

How to customize the restaurant receipt

To customize your receipts, start from one of these templates and use the restaurant receipt generator to make adjustments as you see fit. You can:

• Change font size for every single line on the receipt

• Rearrange the sections with simple drag & drop

• Remove sections that you don’t need

• Add your own content by using the text-free sections

The best part is that while you make all these changes you can see a real time preview of how your restaurant receipt looks like.

You can even generate previews for different real life situation by playing with the order type (delivery, pickup, order ahead), payment method (cash, card online etc) or fulfillment time (asap or later). That’s how you make sure that everything looks exactly how you need without having to print tones of test orders.

Note: If your printer can only print text (not also images), the receipt comes out in a plain-text format that you cannot customize.

Recommended printers

We’ve looked at the most popular printers used by our clients and picked the ones that perform best. All the printers below are reliable, easy to install and support image printing. Moreover, we have them in our office for testing and are the first ones we debug in case of issues. So if you want to buy a thermal printer to connect to the order taking app, we highly recommend one from this list.

When buying a printer, pay close attention to its characteristics, as the name alone can be deceiving.

There are several models under the same name, and usually they differ only by color and interface (how they are able to connect).

For example, EPSON TM-T20II is a series with 2 models. You need to buy the one with Ethernet, if you wish to connect it to the order taking app. The USB + Serial model would be completely useless.

Other Supported Printers

These printers work ok and we actively support them as well:

• EPSON TM-m30, models: Ethernet only, Ethernet + Bluetooth, Ethernet + WiFi

• EPSON TM-T20, model: Ethernet

• EPSON TM-T20III, model: Ethernet

• EPSON TM-T70II, model: Ethernet, WiFi

• EPSON TM-T88IV, model: Ethernet

• EPSON TM-T82III, model: Ethernet

• EPSON TM-T82IIIL, model: Ethernet

• EPSON TM-T88VI, all models have Ethernet built-in and WiFi with dongle

• STAR TSP143

Why we don’t recommend Bluetooth

Although the order taking app allows you to connect a thermal printer via Bluetooth, we don’t recommend it.

Here’s why:

• Discovering the printer via Bluetooth is often times rather difficult. Also, for many printers, once the connection is lost, it cannot be re-established automatically;

• Bluetooth has a range of maximum 10 meters and is prone to interferences from other EM waves (like microwave oven or some WiFi networks);

We have encountered size limitations with printers from different manufacturers (like Star TSP650II).

Why we no longer support USB

USB connection proved to be quite unreliable, that’s why we’ve decided to remove it from the Order Taking App. It turns out that it’s difficult to keep printing and charging at the same time:

• If the device is not charging, the Android system puts the device to sleep mode, so orders might not come through properly

• When the cable is moved, the Android system may assign a new USB port. The connectivity to the printer is lost, so the device and the printer need to be repaired. In practice, repairing needs to be done several times a day.

Why we no longer support SMS printing

We also had to cut out SMS printing. Some orders are long enough to exceed the SMS limit. The end result is that the printout does not contain all items.
